Hello,

I’m Sue, I’m married to Martin and we live in Aspley,  I have son who lives in Leicester.

I completed a Certificate in Christian Studies Course at  St John’s College in 2000 and from there started on my Reader training course.  I was licensed as a Reader in October 2002, at which time I was worshipping at St Margaret’s, Aspley.  Because I had been given the responsibility of children’s work I completed another St John’s Course entitled ‘Teaching Children’  which included spending a full day at my local primary school – that was an amazing experience.  My own primary school days ended in the 1950’s (when everything was in black and white) and I have to admit one day back at school in 2010 was exhausting, however, I did learn a lot about the way children are taught.

I am also a Recognised Lay Minister in Pastoral Care.

My husband Martin and I began to worship at St Martin’s in 2005 and received a very warm welcome from both clergy and congregation.  Martin is the musical director and I was accepted as a Reader at St Martin’s in 2006.  I enjoy sharing my faith with adults and children alike whether I am leading the services, preaching, being part of the Worship Group or just chatting over a cup of tea at the end of the service.

I love planning services, especially the All Age and I am grateful for the support and encouragement I get from Martin, especially where the music is concerned.

Until recently I was employed as the Manager of the Living Oasis Christian bookshop in Castle Gate, a job I enjoyed very much.  Apart from selling books we had the privilege of praying for our customers if they asked, and that was a blessing indeed.  Sadly the shop closed as have many others in the Living Oasis chain due to lack of support.

I know that many people have a specific scripture or song that means a lot to them, the one that always think of as I am putting on my robes before a service is ‘King of Kings, Majesty’ especially the line ‘ in royal robes I don’t deserve’.

Like most other people I know I have not led a perfect life, but I know the times God has helped me achieve things I would never have thought possible and that is why I live to serve Him.

Love   Sue x
