Revd. Jane Walker
I was born in Nottingham in 1971, and am the youngest of five children. I have lived in Nottingham all of my life and love my home city. From an early age I attended Sunday school at St. Mary’s in Clifton village and continued to attend during my teenage years. When I was 15 I had an experience during a youth weekend at Launde Abbey; it was an overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit. I knew that God was there in my life.
Leaving School I attended South Notts. College in West Bridgford and completed a secretarial course and subsequently worked in Administration in my late teens and early 20’s.
In 1991 I met my husband Bill and we married 4 years later, we have 3 children, Holly, Joel and Samuel. Family life is a constant joy and privilege, and an abundant blessing from God.
In 2008 I felt that God was calling me to ordained ministry, not certain whether this was possible or right, I undertook a distance learning course in Theology with St. John’s College, Nottingham. The call to ordination remained and after being accepted for training I began Full-time study for ministry in 2012, at St. John’s.
On the 29th June 2014, I was ordained at Southwell Minster, and am now serving St. Martin’s, Sherwood as curate.
The grace of God envisioned in the cross of Jesus Christ, is the foundation of my faith and life with God. It is humility’s cry of love for the world and no greater gift than that of love has the world ever before received.
