At St Martin’s Church we are delighted to welcome all people from our community to have a great time and to find out more about our wonderful God.
We’d love to see more children and their families coming through our doors and since 2014 we have been trying out a new idea which is proving popular all over the country, “Messy Church.” It proved quite popular in Sherwood too!
“Messy Church” is centred on children (11 and under) and their families and provides a fun filled way of getting together, learning about God and His love for us and celebrating this.
We provide toys to keep very young children occupied and any older siblings are welcome to help, so the whole family can come. The main part of “Messy Church” is taken up with a range of games and craft activities on a biblical theme.
Each child has a bag to keep all they have made to take home with them. We then have 15 minutes of praise and celebration, with songs and stories on the same biblical theme featured in the crafts. We finish with a snack and drinks.
Sessions are usually 3pm to 5pm on Saturday.
Here’s Lesley looking sheepish at our last session on June 3rd on the theme of Jesus the Good Shepherd. Our next session is our Family Fun day on Saturday 29th July. There will be games and activities for all to enjoy with prizes and barbecue style food. This will be 3-5pm in the church garden or in church if it rains. Further sessions in 2017 will be on 30th September on ‘Jesus the true vine’ and 2nd December on ‘Getting ready for Christmas’. 2018 dates will be posted soon.”
We would love to see you there so why not give us a try?
