Messy Church

At St Martin’s Church we are delighted to welcome all people from our community to have a great time and to find out more about our wonderful God.

p1We’d love to see more children and their families coming through our doors and since 2014 we have been trying out a new idea which is proving popular all over the country, “Messy Church.” It proved quite popular in Sherwood too!

“Messy Church” is centred on children (11 and under) and their families and provides a fun filled way of getting together, learning about God and His love for us and celebrating this.

We provide toys to keep very young children occupied and any older siblings are welcome to help, so the whole family can come. The main part of “Messy Church” is taken up with a range of games and craft activities on a biblical theme.

Each child has a bag to keep all they have made to take home with them. We then have 15 minutes of praise and celebration, with songs and stories on the same biblical theme featured in the crafts. We finish with a snack and drinks.

Sessions are usually 3pm to 5pm on Saturday.

Here are some pictures of our messy church in 2017. Our theme for 2018 will be ‘Stories Jesus told’. Click here for our programme for 2018.
